Garmin Forerunner 245 Music can be described as a device at a moderate level for those who love running. It replaces the highly acclaimed Garmin Forerunner 235, which is available since the year 2015.
Garmin has launched two different models that are based on Forerunner 245: Garmin Forerunner 245 Music which is the one which I’ve tried as well as the one that is simply referred to as Garmin Forerunner 245. Both watches are identical, except that the Music version comes with built-in music function. However, if you don’t really need the music function, then there’s savings to be made by selecting the model that does not have music.
Garmin Forerunner 245 Music – First impression
My initial impression of the Forerunner 245 Music is that it’s very nice. It’s a very nice watch. It’s a lot more sophisticated than Forerunner 235 . It also appears more sturdy and solid even though it’s mostly made of plastic. There are five buttons that control the watch, but with Forerunner 245 Music, they’re made of metal. The watch is now equipped with a brand new Quickfit strap, making it much easier to replace with no tools. Additionally, it comes with an updated heart rate monitor as well as an upgraded charging socket that is similar to the one used in Garmin’s watches.
The things that caught my eye initially.
Garmin Foreunner 245 Music Evaluation
I’ve been out walking using Garmin Forerunner 245 Music all day, every single one of the past seven days.
I’d like to begin with a statement that it’s one of the most dedicated running watches I’ve ever tried. Although I am a huge fan of the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus, it does have a number of functions that I don’t utilize as an athlete. If you’re looking for an easy and reliable watch, then the Forerunner 245 music includes everything you require to be an aspiring runner.
I am awestruck by the aesthetics of the watch, as well as the way it feels on your wrist. It’s slim and light and elegant in its design. It’s a great fit and is able to stay in place regardless of how hard the shake I do. In fact, I frequently forget that I’m wearing it.
The watch comes with excellent and clear color screen that makes it easy to see even in sunlight. Contrary to Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music, it does not feature an LCD touch screen, but it has five buttons. I am a huge supporter of this feature as it helps you manage the watch, particularly when you’re on the move.
GPS, Heart Rate wrist-worn monitor, and Running Dynamics
Garmin Forerunner 245 Music has obviously GPS (the European satellite-system Galileo) which makes GPS measurements more precise in Europe. It also has a wrist heart rate monitor that is able to measure everything you’d expect from a running watch. Distance, time, pace and heart rate, among others..
As a brand new feature on watches at this price Garmin Forerunner 245 Music is a copy of the latest Running Dynamics of Garmin Forerunner 645.
Running Dynamics requires that you possess either an Running Dynamics Pod, a Garmin HRM-Run-heart-rate belt or Garmin HRM-Tri-heart rate belt. If you own one of these devices, you can get additional information about things like vertical variations (how you bounce between vertical and horizontal) and ground contact time (how long it takes you to touch your feet to) stride length, and many other factors.
Statistics after your run
Another feature that Garmin have copied from more expensive models is the sophisticated capabilities for training. You can, among other things, determine the impact of your exercise program, which will reveal what your training will do to influence your physique. Also, you can get estimates of your VO2-Max so that you can track the evolution of your physique. Additionally, you will receive your the amount of training you are doing, your training status and the recommended time to recover that all provide great tips to not over train and also to ensure that you’re putting in enough effort to improve your form in the correct direction. They are all fantastic tools!
If you’d like to learn more about your run, you can make use of the Garmin Connect application for your phone, which will offer all sorts of information and stats from your running, your current training performance, your current fitness level and more.
Pulse OX sensor that measures levels of oxygen saturation
Forerunner 245 now features a updated Pulse OX sensor. The sensor was initially included in the most expensive version Garmin Fenix 5X Plus, later on in Vivosmart 4 and now In Forerunner 245 and possibly in other models in the near future. The sensor can determines the level of oxygen saturation in blood. It is especially beneficial for those who work in the mountains and wants to prevent the symptoms of altitude sickness. It will help you evaluate the general health of your body, particularly during your sleeping. To measure the levels of oxygen saturation, you must sit or lie down completely still which isn’t possible to do this while running.
Garmin Forerunner 245 Music that measures your level of exercise
Forerunner 245 also makes an ideal activity tracking device. It measures calories, steps heart rate, calories burned, active minutes, and many more. It features advanced sleep monitoring, and as a the latest feature, it monitors the body’s overall stress levels, also known as Body Battery. Body Battery is a measure of your general fatigue level and levels of energy. It is at its highest as you get up refreshed and well-rested in the early morning and gradually goes lower throughout the day. It differs based on the activities you engage in. A run can give you a little bit of a drop, but it will keep levels higher than if you’d not been running. Also, if you do nothing in the middle of the daytime (stay in bed for an entire hour, or do other things) you may see it increase again. I’m not sure whether it’s scientifically accurate. However, it appears to be a good match for the feeling of fatigue well, and is an interesting feature that I am certain we will see on numerous Germin watch models in future.
Smart notifications
Like most Garmin watches, you will be sure to receive smart notifications that include messages and emails and social media notifications as well as incoming calls, weather updates as well as traffic updates calendar reminders, etc. in Garmin Forerunner 245.
I set it to not display calls that are in progress as I find it a bit disturbing when I receive all kinds of notifications. Of course, that’s an individual choice.
Garmin Forerunner 245 Music – Spotify, Deezer and mp3
One of the biggest improvements is the capability to play music directly on the watch, without carrying your mobile nearby. Forerunner 245 Music allows users to save more than 500 songs. This could be mp3 files or if you’ve got an account with a Premium subscription, such as Spotify or Deezer You can also download offline playlists stored on this site onto your wrist. Forerunner 245 Music is equipped with WiFi, so you can transfer music and playlists without connecting your watch the internet or a computer.
The music function performs very well, but it is required to possess a pair of wireless Bluetooth earphones.
