Micropigmentation of the scalp is a type of tattooing for cosmetic purposes. It’s accomplished by placing tiny dots of color into the scalp’s surface by using an electric device like a tattoo gun but a little gentler for the face.

The pigments are created differently than conventional tattoo ink, and so they fade uniformly and evenly in time, with no possibility of changing color or blurring when the procedure is done properly.

The dots are created wherever hair is thin or absent completely, therefore the treatment can be used to give hair the illusion of greater thickness and density or to create the buzz cut appearance across the entire scalp of clients with only a little or no hair.

It is able to be used on anyone of any gender and the method is able to be adapted to produce various outcomes.

Step-by-Step SMP Procedure

It is the obligation of your professional to guide you through the procedure but sometimes they hurry through the procedure or might not be able to provide all the information you’d want to be aware of. Therefore, we will guide you through each stage in the hair micropigmentation process!

It is always beneficial to arrive at your appointment prepared – it can make the entire process much simpler for both you and your artist.

Step 1 – Contacts

The SMP procedure begins way before there’s a need to be done!

Consults are probably the most crucial stage in the process as they determine how the final product will look, and gives the opportunity to talk with an artist and gain an understanding about their aesthetic and knowledge as well as giving the artist the chance to explain the post-care instructions, that are vitally important.

It is always recommended to schedule consultations on a separate day, and not prior to your procedure. This will give you time to talk about your needs with your professional without hurry, and they’ll are able to examine your scalp and determine if you’re suitable of this SMP process, then then come with the ideal form and shade for you.

It’s also a good time to conduct a patch test to determine the possibility that you might experience allergic reactions with any product that are used in the treatment.

Step 2. – Cleaning

When you arrive for your appointment, the initial step is to clean the scalp. Since the skin is likely to rupture, the scalp must be clean of any dirt and remnants to reduce the chance of infection and contamination.

The artist will apply an anti-bacterial cleanser to wash the space.

Step 3. Outlining

The artist will sketch the new hairline. This is an extremely important process that the designer will be taking their time in the process. Determining how low to place the hairline needs to be based on your personal appearance.

They’ll draw an outline, and you’ll get the opportunity to express your thoughts and choose how you would like the drawing to appear.

4. Numbing

SMP is an SMP procedure is performed using topical numbing, a cream that eliminates the discomfort from the needling. An underlying layer of the numbing lotion be applied to your scalp, and left for around 30 minutes.

When it’s time to start after which the cream will be taken off and it’s now time to perform to actually perform the micropigmentation.

It is important to note that some artists prefer to first numb and then outline. It’s dependent on the artist’s preference.

5. The Micropigmentation

It’s now time to get the actual application of pigment. Artists mix the custom color of the pigment. Be aware that SMP is done with an ashy toned pigment since this is the color that hair follicles in the process of growing regardless of your actual hair shade. It’s a matter of what shade to go for, and what warmth it will add.

They’ll apply tiny dots of color wherever your hair requires re-densifying or cover all of your scalp. They’ll likely make twoplus passes.

The process should not be painful because your scalp is numb however, it could be uncomfortable, particularly around the temples. If you experience discomfort, let your doctor be aware – they may provide more sensational numbing.

Step 6 Clean and Photos

After the pigment has been applied after the application, it’s time to wash off any residues left on the skin. The artist will snap a few pictures for reference and ask if it’s acceptable for they post the images on their social media accounts.

Step 7 The Healing Process and the Aftercare

The SMP procedure doesn’t end when you leave the salon within the next few weeks the pigments will settle in your skin, and the cuts will be healed. This phase is essential for the effectiveness of the procedure and you must take special care of the hair and follow the post-treatment instructions that your doctor prescribes.

Generally speaking, this can be summarized as:

Washing your scalp in a particular manner and following the prescribed timetable.
Applying an ointment for aftercare.
Make sure your scalp is kept away from the sun.
Avoiding products that which your artist doesn’t like.

It can take around two weeks for your scalp’s healing enough for your next appointment, and following the final session it will take approximately 30 days to complete your recovery.

Step 8 – Additional Sessions

In general, scalp micropigmentation is done in 2plus sessions. One session is usually not enough to create enough pigmentation. Additional sessions are required to make sure that the results last many years and to ensure that the color is across all spots.

However many sessions you have the final result will be similar to the previous one. The practitioner will first determine the extent to which your skin absorbs pigment and then repeat the steps outlined previously (except for the consultations and outlining – the shape is already there). Each session will be shorter and less work is required, and they shouldn’t be as lengthy as the first session.

For the majority of clients, 3 sessions yield great results, however it’s personal and you may require more or less sessions.

Step 9 – Achieved!

When you are satisfied that the effects of SMP appear as black as you would like them to be, and your skin is healed from the last session then you are able to think about your SMP procedure a success! Enjoy your new look!
