Keratin treatments, also known as a Brazilian blowout, or Brazilian keratin treatment is a process that is usually carried out in a salon. It will make your hair look more straight for up to six months. It can add a dazzling glossy shine to hair and helps reduce frizz.

The procedure involves getting your hair washed before using a hair stylist to apply the treatment onto your hair, where it’ll remain for around 30 minutes.

A few hair stylists choose blowing dry the hair first before they then apply treatment on hair that is dry. They then flat iron hair into small sections to seal the treatment.

The whole process can last up to an hour or more, therefore, bring an e-book or something relaxing to do!

If you’re unsure whether keratin treatment for men would be suitable for you, take a look at your options listed below.

The body naturally produces the protein keratin, which is the protein that nails and hair are composed of.

The keratin that is present in these treatments could originate from feathers, wool or horns. Shampoos, conditioners, and other products have Keratin, however you’ll receive the best benefits by having a treatment in a salon by an experienced professional.

The benefits of a professional keratin treatment , or performing one at home include:

Smooth, shiny hair

Keratin smoothes the cells that are overlapping in order to create hair strands that means hair is more manageable as well as less frizz. This results in hair that drys with minimal Frizz. It also gives a shiny and healthy appearance.

Keratin can help to reduce the appearance of split ends by temporarily gluing the hair’s ends back together.

Lasting results

If you are taking maintain Keratin treatments by not washing your hair often (2 or 3 times per week is adequate) Your Keratin treatment will last for up to six months.

Hair that is more manageable

Keratin treatments make hair manageable, particularly if your hair is extremely thin or frizzy.

If you are constantly heating your hairthen you’ll find that when you use keratin treatments, your hair will dry faster. Keratin, according to some estimates, reduces drying time by nearly half.

Your hair could also get healthier and more durable because you can dry it more frequently and protect it from damage caused by heat.

Hair growth

Keratin can help strengthen and fortify hair to ensure it doesn’t break. It can cause hair to appear to grow more quickly because the ends aren’t breaking.
Formaldehyde

A lot (but some, but not every) Keratin treatments have formaldehyde, which is harmful if inhaled.

Formaldehyde causes hair to appear more straight.

In the findings of an Environmental Working Group investigation, certain companies may actually try to conceal the truth that their keratin products has the chemical.

Cost

Each treatment could cost anywhere from $300 to $800, with a the tip. There are cheaper alternatives at home, but the results won’t last as long.

Very difficult to maintain

The less you wash your hair and not swimming can cause hair loss for certain people.

The kind of water you use on your hair is important. The presence of salt or chlorinated water (basically the pool or the ocean) could reduce the lifespan of the Keratin treatment. It is also recommended to buy shampoo and conditioner that is not contaminated with sodium chloride or sulfates because both can degrade the treatment.

Make sure to wash your hair. You’ll need to wait 3-4 days after keratin treatment to let your hair get wet. If you’re not the type of person who prefers to skip washing day the treatment might not be suitable for you. Some users report a smell of musty regardless of washing.

Not recommended for everyone. Also, it’s not recommended for pregnant women.

Treatments with Keratin can help make thick, frizzy hair easier for you to handle.

The procedure helps smooth the cuticle of hair, which gives hair strands shine. It also cuts down the drying time.

The treatment can be costly but the formaldehyde that is found in many formulas could be hazardous if inhaled Therefore, make sure you’re doing the procedure in a well-ventilated location or selecting a formula with no formaldehyde.
