Because of its one-of-a-kind combination of history, culture, music, and natural beauty, Cuba—the biggest island in the Caribbean—has long enchanted travellers from across the globe. However, a Cuba visa is necessary for British people to enter Cuba before they can begin their Cuban journey. This page will walk you through the steps of getting this document, including how to apply, what you need to qualify, how much it will cost, how long it will take, typical mistakes, and questions and answers.

The Cuban Visa Process: A Comprehensive Overview

Make sure you meet the following requirements before you start the online application:

The Tarjeta de Turismo (Cuban Tourist Card) is available to British nationals only if they are permanent residents of the United Kingdom. Travellers from other European countries, expats living abroad, and dual citizens with alternative passports are need to apply through a diplomatic mission or third party agency individually.

The Cuban tourist visa is only valid for vacation-related travel. A variety of permissions are required for different types of travel, including those involving academia, science, religion, journalism, athletics, culture, humanitarian work, or the economy.

Your entry point defines the sort of tourist card you will obtain. A unique variation is provided for airport transfers for individuals who begin their vacation in Cayo Jutías, Guardalavaca, Máximo Gómez, or Barajagua airports. Regular Cuba visas are sufficient for entry into Cuba by land, sea, or air terminals at many airports: Havana José Martí International Airport, Varadero Juan Gualberto Gomez Airport, Santiago De Cuba Airport, Santa Clara Abel Santamaría Airport, Holguín Frank País Airport, or Camaguey Ignacio Agramonte Airport.

Getting a Cuban Visa Through the Internet

Travellers may avoid the long lines, confusing paperwork, and astronomical fees usually associated with traditional consular procedures by applying for a Cuba visa online. Please visit the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in London’s official website to begin the digital procedure. Select “Online Application Form” from the “Visas” menu, and then fill out the following fields:

Please include your full name and last name precisely as they appear on your passport.
• Your full name, as it appears on your birth certificate • Your passport number and the agency that issued it • Any applicable immigration stamps, dates, and places
Place of residence in the UK
Please include the following information: • Your email address • Your contact phone number • Your travel dates and locations • How long you plan to stay • How to pay (we accept debit and credit cards)

All major credit cards accepted, including Mastercard, Maestro, VISA, Diners Club, American Express, Discover Network, and JCB branded cards, are accepted after you click the “Submit” button on this form. The required payment is $25 per person and is good for one month. A confirmation email with download and print instructions will be given to you once the process is complete. This electronic Cuba visa, together with your passport, is required to be submitted during customs checks.

Typical Errors to Steer Clear Of

Despite how easy it is to apply online, mistakes can happen from time to time, which might cause delays or even denial of entrance to Cuba. If you want to avoid these three common mistakes when filling out the online form, read on!

If you want to be sure that your application and your identification papers are in sync, you should verify that your full name, birthday, passport details, postal address, and contact information are accurate. Refusal or further examination might ensue from any inconsistencies.

Inappropriate Immigration Stamps: Verify that the information you provided for your Cuba visa application precisely matches the information in your passport’s entry and departure pages, including the date(s) and port(s) of entry, about any previous Cuban entries. Problems may arise during border control if this is not done.

Fees Not Paid: Your request will be considered invalid if the $25 charge is not paid as part of the online transaction.

Questions and Answers

Here is a list of frequently asked questions regarding getting a Cuban visa:

How many business days does it take for a Cuban visa to be approved?

Answer: You may expect to get the electronic document via email as soon as the authorities accept your online submission. If you want to be safe, it’s best to download and print two copies. Some airlines even require passengers to see the hard document before boarding.

Can anyone get a Cuban visa if they are a certain age?

Answer: Accompanying adults do not need to carry separate travel authorisations for children under the age of 16, as long as they are included in their parent’s or grandparent’s permission and the flight timings are the same.

Can I stay in Cuba for longer than the initial term allowed by my visa?

A: I’m sorry, but no. Each tourist visa grants entry to Cuba for a maximum of 30 days; beyond that, visitors must leave the country temporarily and seek for a new card if they want to come back. Importantly, there are harsh consequences for overstays, including fines, jail, deportation, or even a ban on future trips.
