What is cold laser therapy?

Low-intensity laser therapy that helps heal by using very low amounts of light.

The method is referred to as “cold” treatment with lasers due to the light levels are low and don’t provide enough heat to your tissues of your body. The intensity of light isn’t as high as other types treatment using lasers like the ones used to kill cancerous tissues and coagulate them.

Lasers used for aesthetics and surgery treat the affected tissue with heat. As per its name the cold laser therapy is not.

The cold laser therapy can also be referred to as

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)
Low-power Laser Therapy (LPLT)
soft laser biostimulation
Photobiomodulation

In this process, various wavelengths and levels of low-level light beams are applied directly to the targeted area. The body tissue is then absorbed by the light. The near-infrared and red light triggers a reaction and damaged cells react with an innate reaction that encourages renewal.

Superficial tissue is typically treated using wavelengths ranging from 600 to 700 nanometers (nm). For more extensive penetration, wavelengths ranging from 780 and 950 nm can be utilized.

While you may feel the laser device on your skin it’s safe and not painful. There’s no noise and you’ll not feel any warmth or vibration. The typical treatment lasts only several minutes.

The application of cold laser therapy is increasing in conventional medical practice as a complement or alternative treatment. It is approved from FDA. U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a range of medical conditions.

Laser therapy with cold is to be safe when done under the supervision of a qualified doctor or practitioner. It’s a plus that it’s not painful and noninvasive. It doesn’t require any medication or any other medication.

However the cold laser treatment shouldn’t be utilized on cancerous or lesions that are cancerous. It is also advised to avoid it for eyes or thyroid for use at home. Because the effects treatment with cold light on children who are not yet born is not known, it is recommended that pregnant women stay clear of this kind of treatment.

One of the disadvantages of this treatment is the time. Although each treatment with cold lasers is only a couple of minutes, it can last for up to one month (with at least four sessions per each week) before you are able to assess its efficacy.

This may also not be insured by your insurance.

The cold laser therapy equipment is widely available for be used at your home. If you’re thinking of purchasing an appliance for your at-home use there are a few crucial things to take into consideration.

The first is that lasers differ in their output, and they may not produce the power they claim to have. There are lasers that emit light, but they’re not actually LEDs, or light emitting diodes (LEDs).

Then, some cold therapy products that are sold for use at home offer bold claims about the benefits they can accomplish.

Some are designed to aid in losing weight, quit smoking or even grow hair. Some advertise that they can help combat headaches, high blood pressure as well as other issues like wrinkles. Certain claims could not be true.

Research into the efficacy and the safety of laser treatment using cold light is continuing. Insufficient information regarding the optimal treatment protocols is available. But, those who advocate for it believe that it could be a viable alternative for patients who want to avoid the need for invasive treatment.

If you’re thinking about treatment with cold-laser, talk to safe laser bérlés to discover whether it’s a good fit for you.
