Vincent Kompany wants Burnley’s clash at Turf Moor against Sheffield United to be ‘electric’ as they approach the encounter seeking revenge for the defeat the Blades inflicted upon them earlier this season.
The Clarets have been confirmed as a Premier League side once again after their 3-1 win over Middlesbrough on Friday night ensured their place in the top two of the Championship. Ahead of the Blades by 11 points, their next objective will be to go up as champions.
Burnley have lost only twice in the Championship this season, but one of those came in November at Bramall Lane. The Blades beat the Clarets 5-2 in a remarkable encounter in the Steel City.

The clash on Easter Monday will also be Kompany’s 37th birthday, but the Clarets boss is adamant his players do not need to get him anything for the day. But he believes there is so much in the encounter as they play against their nearest competitor in the table and with revenge on their minds for the loss earlier this campaign.
Kompany said: “They don’t need to do anything for my birthday. I would love it to be electric. There’s so much in this game for us; it’s not just that we’re playing against the second best team in the league, it’s a game we have to approach with a sentiment of revenge.
“Having played against Sheffield over there we know how strong they are, they’re a very good team and we’ll need the fans to be the extra man.”
