Preston North End will move quickly to appoint a new manager following the dismissal of head coach Frankie McAvoy.
The Scot was relieved of his duties on Monday evening after 21 matches in charge this season.
North End are now on the hunt to land their number one target and LancsLive can confirm that it is someone currently in work at another football club.
PNE expect things to move fast and will formally approach the relevant club and manager tomorrow.
They have three options on the table but are confident of landing their first choice target.
Concerns arose over performances and results last month among the PNE hierarchy and the next appointment is a critical one in order to lift the mood around Deepdale.
The Lilywhites sit in 18th spot in the Championship and have a squad capable of being much higher.
North End’s statement on the club website did not confirm anyone would be taking over on an interim basis and it indicated they were on the search for a ‘manager’ as opposed to head coach.
