Three men fled from a car after escaping police during a high speed chase in Carlisle city centre.
The men were seen running towards a primary school after the car first failed to stop for officers on the M6. Police tried to stop the silver Ford Mondeo near Junction 44 this afternoon, only for it to continue before recklessly driving around the city centre.
The nature of its driving led police to stop the chase in order to prevent a risk to others on the road. The vehicle was later found abandoned on Kershope Road and witnesses reported seeing three people running away in the direction of Kingmoor Junior School, with the driver wearing a full grey tracksuit.
