Nigel Pearson revealed Bristol City talked about not letting Manuel Benson come inside on his left foot in Burnley’s win as he netted against the Robins but felt the Clarets were given a game at Ashton Gate.
Benson put the champions ahead in the first half with a marvellous curling effort which is quickly becoming his trademark finish. Tommy Conway equalised on the hour mark, but Jay Rodriguez slotted home as the Clarets responded almost immediately and it proved to be the winner at Ashton Gate.
Benson has netted in his last four games and all have been carbon copies almost. They have seen the winger cut in from the right flank to curl an effort with his left boot which has seen him net against Rotherham United, QPR and Blackburn Rovers.

Robins boss Pearson was pleased with what he saw after the break from his team after a below-par first 45 minutes where he felt they did not do much with their possession. He expressed his disappointment with both goals and also how the Robins spoke about trying to stop Benson all week, but were unable to do so.
However, he felt they responded well to the second time they went behind and believes Vincent Kompany’s side were given a game by the Ashton Gate outfit.
He said: “Second half I think we were pretty good and we didn’t really do enough with our possession in the first half but we’re disappointed with the two goals really.
“We worked and talked all week about not letting him come inside on his left peg, but there we go. So that was disappointing and the second goal potentially knows the stuffing out of us but I think we still responded very well.
“I think they’ve been in a decent game today.”
