Sunny spells on Sunday saw most of us basking in the warmer weather with temperature highs of up to 18C in some places.

However, the sunshine will disappear as we head into the start of the week, according to the latest Met Office forecast. They predict clouds throughout much of Monday, giving way to rain in the evening, with temperature highs of around 17C.

The outlook for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will see a mixture of sunny spells and showers on Tuesday, rain and sunny intervals in much of the region on Wednesday, followed by sunny intervals and clouds on Thursday, and showers on Friday in some places, with the best of Friday’s weather predicted for Blackpool and Lancaster.

Temperatures are set to drop slightly on Monday and continue to fall throughout the week. Those with hay fever are advised to be wary of a high pollen count predicted to hit the county on Monday, which will fall to medium in most places for the rest of the week.

Meteorologist Dan Stroud said there will be “decent sunny spells” across much of England and Wales over the next week or so, while the temperatures will be cooler for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

However, next week is “a bit of a mixed bag”, Mr Stroud said. He added: “We’re going to see temperatures generally above average for a good portion of next week but the caveat will be that there will be bands of cloud and rain around at times so it’s not plain sailing unfortunately all the way through.

“There is a hint that we might see something warmer towards the back end of next week and running into the following weekend but that’s a long way off”.

Lancs Live has compiled the Met Office forecast for areas across the county including Blackpool, Blackburn, Lancaster, Preston and Burnley.
