A man in his 40s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was assaulted in Ribbleton.
He is currently in a critical condition after sustaining serious head injuries during the attack.
Police attended the scene of the attack on Bowland Road in Ribbleton around 5.25am yesterday (Tuesday, December 21).

They had received reports of a man that had suffered head injuries and was unconscious.
He was taken to hospital, where he remains with life-threatening injuries.
A 38-year-old man from Preston has since been arrested on suspicion of causing GBH with intent and remains in police custody.
An investigation is ongoing as police are now appealing for information and CCTV which can help piece together exactly what occurred.
Det Ch Insp Mike Gladwin, of Lancashire Police, said: “This was a nasty incident which has left a man in hospital with serious injuries. One man has since been arrested but our investigation is very much ongoing to establish what happened.
“We are now appealing for information and are asking anybody who saw the incident, or who has dashcam or CCTV showing any part of it, to get in touch as soon as possible.”
