Disney+ film crews have descended on a town near Lancashire for a reboot of an iconic 90s favourite.
Cast members gathered in Bolton this week to shoot scenes from the limited series adaptation of The Full Monty. The crew were seen working at the old Specsavers unit at Crompton Place Shopping Centre.
Philip Richards captured some members of the cast at work on the set. They include Robert Carlyle who is reprising the role Gaz as well as Paul Barber, who stars as Horse, Steve Huison as Lomper, and Mark Addy as Dave, the M.E.N reports.

Other original cast members featuring in the series return of the BAFTA-winning hit 1997 film are Tom Wilkinson as Gerald, Wim Snape as Nathan, Lesley Sharp as Jean and Hugo Speer as Guy.
The drama reunites the film’s Oscar-winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy and producer Uberto Pasolini and is co-commissioned by Disney Plus and FX. It will follow the original cast as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s crumbling healthcare, education and employment sectors and explore how communal effort can still triumph over adversity, Variety reports.
Filming commenced in Sheffield back in March and continues in Bolton today (August 3). A release date for The Full Monty on Disney+ is yet to be confirmed.
Beaufoy said: “We’re chuffed to bits to get all the Monty Men back together again — now with a chaotic entourage of children, grandchildren, pets and assorted hangers-on — to see what life in Sheffield is like twenty-five years on.”
Executive produced by Lee Mason added: “Twenty-five years ago Simon introduced us to a group of funny, fearless and resilient unemployed working-class men from Sheffield and the world fell in love with them. We’re delighted to reunite the original cast for this brand-new series on Disney Plus to catch up with these iconic characters and what they’ve been up to since we last saw them on stage in all their glory, and we can’t wait to introduce a host of exciting new faces and characters.”
Bolton has certainly been no stranger to film crews in recent years. The town starred in popular BBC comedy Alma’s Not Normal , while its streets have portrayed other locations in hit shows such as It’s A Sin and Peaky Blinders.
